Polish Champions better than their Cyprian rivals

In last sparing match of the pre-season Lech Poznan won with APOEL Nicosia 3:0. Marcin Kaminski, Denis Thomalla and Dawid Kownacki scored the goals for Lech.

An unfomented fight in the midfield is all that happened in the opening minutes of the match. Neither of the teams had many goal attempts. Barry Douglas who was running up and down the left flank caused the most trouble to his rivals. In the 7th minute his pass to Kownacki created a great opportunity for Lech to score, but the young forward failed to convert it into a goal. It wasn't until the 33rd minute that the team from Poznan had another goal attempt. Again it was Douglas that sent the ball into the penalty area, but this time to Kaminski and the defender redirected it into the net. APOEL had their only chance to equalize in the first half in the 43rd minute when Charalabidis passed Douglas and sent a cross into the penalty area. However, the player's pass was too weak and Jasmin Buric had no trouble intervening.

At half time Maciej Skorza made three changes in the squad. Gostomski was the one to defend the goal in the second half, Jevtic came in for Hamalainen and Thomalla was a substitute for Robak. It was APOEL that attacked first in the second part of the match. Leala was the one to send the ball right on the head of De Vincenti, but the latter's header as far from accurate. In the 54th minute Leala had a chance to score too, but Gostomski intervened successfully. A few seconds later Pawlowski failed to score too, following Douglas' good cross, however Thomalla did manage to change the result to 2:0. A great team action of the Champion of Poland ended with Linetty's center into the penalty area and Thomalla's first goal for Lech Poznan.

The team from Poznan kept on pressing despite the lead. Thomalla, Holman (who came in for Pawlowski) and Kownacki got a chance of their own to score too, however it wasn't until the 76th minute that the third goal was scored. Kownacki was the one to add a goal to his account with a great shot from outside the penalty area. The result remained unchanged until referee's last whistle and Lech won its last sparing match of the pre-season.
