Lech Poznan drew the 8th league match of the season. The team from Poznan faced Pogon Szczecin in an away clash. Despite losing points, they remain the leaders of the league. It’s Lech's sixth consecutive match without a loss.
The hosts were the first ones to attack. However, despite an indisputable advantage in the offensive, mainly thanks to high pressing, Pogon struggled to create scoring chances. Lech was cautious in the defensive and attempted to regain control over the match. Lech found themselves in trouble when Kostevych was injured and had to be replaced by the debutant Vernon De Marco.
However, before Bjelica was forced to make a substitution, his team had a decent scoring opportunity. Tralka recovered the ball in the midfield and spotted Barkroth who was entering the box. The Swede received the pass and fired a flat shot, but Pogon goalkeeper saved the attempt. As it later turned out, it was Lech’s only shot on target in the first half.
Pogon responded a couple of minutes later with a dangerous offensive action. In the 32nd minute Niepsuj passed to Drygas who was left unmarked in the box, but luckily for Lech, Putnocky stopped the ball from falling into the back of the net. Shortly before haltime Lech had another chance to score, but Radut’s cross was imprecise and neither Tralka nor Gytkjaer managed to convert it into a goal
Second half looked similar to the first part of the match. Pogon was in possession of the ball for the majority of the time. Meanwhile, Lech tried surprising their rival with fast offensive actions. Nevertheless, the hosts had better scoring chances. One of them ended with Kort firing a shot from outside the box, but his attempt turned out to be slightly off target.
Lech’s players occasionally caused problems to Pogon’s defensive line. However, whenever the hosts were in possession of the ball, the team from Poznan was locked within its box. Rapa’s shot was one of the highlights of the second half and if it wasn’t for Putnocky’s great save, it might have gotten Pogon 3 points. Lech’s goalkeeper was one of the best players of the match and managed to keep the goal secured despite numerous attempts from the rival.
Lech visibly struggled in the midfield and lost direct clashes. Majewski who came in late in the second half had one of the few scoring chances in the second half. However, he lost the ball in the crucial phase. In the 84th minute Pogon had another chance to win the match. This time Nunes crossed the ball into the box where Drygas was already waiting, but the latter’s shot was slightly off target. The match ended with a goalless draw and the two sides had to share points.
