Lech Poznań beat Pogoń Szczecin 1:0 in an Ekstraklasa league clash, adding another, third win to their series of successful performances.
The Sunday win was even more valuable since the stadium in Poznań wasn’t Lech’s favourite – the team failed to win in Szczecin for a long time now and would only occasionally get a draw. In addition, until the clash with Lech, Pogoń hasn’t lost a home game in the current campaign.
However, unlike the mentioned matches, the Sunday one was a bitter pill to swallow for Pogoń. Lech Poznań collected all three points thanks to a precise header from Bartosz Salamon in the closing minutes of the first half – the defender received a perfect cross from Pedro Tiba and converted it into an accurate shot that left the goalkeeper helpless.
The team from Poznań had a couple of chances to improve the score in the second half but neither Dani Ramirez, nor substitute Filip Szymczak were able to make good use of the goal-scoring opportunities. Fortunately for Lech, Pogoń was equally ineffective in their offensive attempts hence it was the team from Greater Poland that got the third win in a row and decreased the loss to the podium ranks to 7 points only.
