In the 1/16 round of the Polish Cup, Lech Poznań won with Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała 3:0. Nicki Bille scored a double and Tomasz Kędziora got a goal, too.
The opening minutes of the Polish Cup clash might have not been the most exhilarating, but before 15 minutes passed, Lech fired the first shot on target. Bille received a pass from Pawłowski and converted it into an accurate shot. However, Lis had no problems stopping the ball.
Lech built another goal-scoring opportunity a few minutes later. Bednarek gave the ball to Makuszewski and the latter was fouled on the 25th meter. Jevtic converted the free kick into a shot that turned out to be problematic for the goalkeeper, but the ball did not fall into the back of the net.
After a period of Lech's intensified offensive actions, Podbeskidzie finally started to attack too. Sokołowski decided for an individual run that he finished off with a pass to Kołodziej. The latter fired a good shot at the goal, but Putnocky did not let the ball pass him.
Lech's domination was indisputable, both in terms of the possession of the ball, and the shots fired. Finally shortly before the break the team from Poznań converted one of its offensive actions into a goal. Jevtic turned a free kick into a very precise cross and Kędziora freed himself from the marking and redirected the ball into the net from a close distance.
After the halftime Podbeskidzie started to push Lech deeper into the defensive line, but whenever the hosts found space to shoot, the ball was usually blocked either by the defenders, or the goalkeeper. Putnocky had some work to do, but his interventions successfully saved Lech from conceding a goal.
After a short period of the hosts' domination, Lech regained control over the match. One of their offensive actions ended with another goal. Majewski recovered the ball in the midfield and gave it to Pawłowski who decided for an individual run. In the penalty area the midfielder passed the ball to Bille and the Dane fired a shot into the goal. A short while later the forward scored another goal. This time he got a pass from Tetteh, left the defenders behind and lobbed the goalkeeper, setting the score to 3:0.
Shortly before the final whistle the hosts tried attacking again, but Lech's defensive line was solid. The team from Poznań finally put the unfortunate series of losses to an end. In 1/8 round Lech is going to face the winner of the match between Stomil Olsztyn and Ruch Chorzow.
