The 20-year-old player has been representing Lech since 2016 when he was invited to join the Poznań-based part of Academy. Lech’s coaching staff recognized Pingot’s potential when he still played for his former club, Sparta Konin. Initially, the youngster joined the club from Poznań for a training session three times a week, but within a few months, he became a permanent member of one of the youth teams. The defender has been progressing consistently until the spring of the season 2020/2021 – that’s when he moved up to Lech’s B team which competes in the third division.

Pingot took advantage of the opportunity and played an important role in the team’s effort to stay in the third division. After about a year, the defender made another crucial step in his career when he received a call-up from Maciej Skorża – the first team’s coach. Pingot debuted for the senior squad under coach John van den Brom and has made 14 appearances since then. In the meantime, he also joined Odra Opole on a 6-month loan and played in 11 matches.

“We are happy with the progress Maks has made over the past year or so during which he played on the highest level of Polish football. Every day he competes against top players in the country, with plenty of experience, for a position in the starting line-up. What’s important is that he approaches the rivalry with determination and commitment, which make him ready to play and continually develop as a player,” explained Lech’s Sporting Director, Tomasz Rząsa.

The contract extension is also a special moment for the player himself who has been representing Lech for over 7 years. “It’s a reason for me to be proud since I am a homegrown player and a fan since I was a kid. I am aware that I have to compete against great players, but I put in the effort every day to solidify my position in the team and play an important role in the squad. I am sure that with time, everything will unfold so; I believe so,” said Pingot.
