Lech lost its first league match since Jan Urban took over the team from Poznan. The Polish Champions turned out to be weaker than Piast Gliwice which won 2:0.
In the first minute the team from Poznan had a good goal-scoring opportunity. Linetty and Pawlowski built a solid offensive action, but the latter failed to hit the ball at all. Meanwhile Piast could have scored too, but luckily for Lech Badia's shot stopped on the crossbar. The luck abandoned the team from Poznan soon after.
Firstly Arajuuri called for a substitution due to an injury and thus Dudka had to appear on the pitch. Shortly afterwards Lech conceded the first goal. Badia recovered the ball in the midfield, sent it to Szeliga and the latter placed it in the net near the right corner. The goal ended Lech's series of 465 minutes without a lost goal. The guests were determined to equalize quickly and they had opportunities to do so, but neither Linetty, Kadar, not Tetteh managed to place the ball in the goal due to inaccuracy or Piast's good defending.
A few minutes into the second half Lech made its own situation even more complicated. The defense line from Poznan made an error that cost them a goal. Barisic was focused enough to exploit Lech's mistake and send the ball past Buric and into the net. Nonetheless, Urban's team did not give up. Shortly afterwards Pawlowski tried equalizing, but his shot was too weak to cause much problems to the goalkeeper.
Piast had its own goal-scoring opportunities, but the team wasn't any more successful than their opponent. Badia's shot from outside the penalty area wasn't on target, while Szeliga was stopped by Buric. At the other end of the pitch Kaminski, Thomalla and Linetty tried to score at least a single goal, but they failed. 15 minutes before the final whistle Piast built a good counterattack that nearly ended with the third goal, but Badia's shot flew above the crossbar. Korun and Moskwik tried to place the ball in the net, but they werent successful and thus when the referee whistled for the last time, Piast was the team that could add another three points to their account. Lech remained on the sixth position in the league rank.
