In the Sunday clash with ŁKS Łódź, Lech Poznań scored three goals (3:2) for the first time since Mariusz Rumak took over the team. The last time that the team from Poznań found the back of the net three times in one match was back in October, against.. ŁKS Łódź.
Lech’s squad has a great beginning to the spring round - Rumak’s players beat Zagłębie Lubin (2:0) and then Jagiellonia Białystok (2:1). In the following matches, you could see clear improvements in the defence (except for the game with Raków) in comparison to 2023, but things weren’t as good in the offence. In the next three matches, Lech failed to score a single goal. It was the worst run in PKO BP Ekstraklasa.
Things seemed to have changed the moment Mikael Ishak returned. The Swedish striker scored in all three recent games which made him the best foreign goal scorer in Lech’s history (50 league goals). In the Sunday clash with ŁKS Łódź, Ishak found the back of the net once again, and Filip Marchwiński added a brace of his own. It was the first time since October when Lech managed to score three goals in one game. Back then, the team from Poznań was having a great run – the round before, they defeated Puszcza Niepołomice 4:1.
If we consider all competitions, Lech players also scored three or more goals against Zalgiris Kaunas (3:1), Jagiellonia Białystok (3:3), and Raków Częstochowa (4:1). This upcoming Sunday, Rumak’s squad will have an opportunity to extend their scoring streak against Cracovia, in a home league clash.
