The beginning of the spring round continues to disappoint Lech and their supporters. Following a 0:0 draw against Stal Mielec, the team from Poznań once again managed to win a single point only, but this time against Miedź Legnica (2:2) in the postponed game from the 2nd round of PKO BP Ekstraklasa.
Initially, the match in Legnica was scheduled to be played in the summer of 2022, but since Lech was simultaneously fighting in the international arena, the game was postponed to the beginning of the spring round.
16 minutes into the match, Lech was already down by one goal. Luciano Narsingh took advantage of an error made by Lech’s defensive line and effortlessly beat Filip Bednarek. The team from Poznań responded quickly, and before the referee announced halftime, it was already 1:1. In the 37th minute, Filip Marchwiński received a good pass from Mikael Ishak and got an equalizer.
The Swedish striker added a goal of his own in the second half when Michał Skóraś was fouled by Miedź’s goalkeeper, and the captain converted the penalty kick into a goal. Despite this error, the hosts’ keeper became the hero in the closing minutes of the match as he intervened numerously and saved his team from conceding a third goal.
The wasted goal-scoring opportunities took revenge on Lech in the 76th minute when Giannis Massouras beat Bednarek with a strong shot under the crossbar.
Following the first two league games of the spring round, Lech has only two points on their account, which is a disappointment considering that the team and the fans expected to get full points.
On Sunday, John van den Brom’s squad will have a chance to settle accounts as Miedź Legnica will visit Poznań to face Lech in the 19th round of PKO BP Ekstraklasa.
