In the 77th minute, with Legia leading 2:0, referee Daniel Stefanski stopped the match between Lech Poznan and Legia Warsaw. As per the decision of the voivode, the game wasn’t resumed.
Lech’s players were in possession of the ball for the majority of the time since the first whistle. However, the players from Poznan failed to convert the possession into scoring chances. The guests were much more effective. In the 9th minute, Vujadinovic made a mistake that Lech paid a high price for. The Serbian defender tried passing the ball to another center-back, Janicki, and Radovic intercepted the pass, left the ball for Antolic and the latter beat Putnocky effortlessly.
Lech responded with intensified offensive attacks. The team from Poznan had a couple of scoring chances from set pieces. In the 21st minute, Jevtic’s attempt was stopped by Legia’s keeper. A couple of minutes later, the Swiss midfielder sent a precise pass into the box where Vujadinovic was waiting, but the defender took too long and Vesovic recovered the ball before the Serb could fire a shot.
Shortly afterward, Lech got another scoring chance. This time Tralka spotted Gytkjaer in the box and sent the forward a precise pass, but Dane’s shot was easily stopped by Malarz who knew exactly where the ball would go. Towards the end of the first half, Lech’s offensive actions slowed down. Legia had chances to change the score again too, but neither the teams managed to place the ball in the back of the net before halftime.
2 minutes into the second half, Lech had a perfect chance to equalize. Jevtic dribbled past two defenders in Legia’s box and just when it seemed that the player would shoot, he decided to pass and the team from Warsaw recovered the ball. In the 58th minute, Janicki came close to scoring when he received Jevtic’s pass from a free kick, but the defender’s attempt was slightly off target.
The team led by coach Ulatowski dominated the match, but had to remain cautious in case Legia managed to counterattack. In the 63rd minute, the team from Warsaw had an opportunity to for the second goal when Kucharczyk decided for an individual run and finished it off with a shot at the goal which was stopped by Putnocky but not without problems. Shortly afterward, Gytkjaer received a great pass from Makuszewski, but he failed to beat Malarz in a one-on-one clash with the keeper.
The wasted scoring chances took revenge on Lech in the 69th minute when Szymanski passed to Kucharczyk who was left unmarked and the latter changed the score to 2:0, putting Legia a step closer to winning the title. In the 77th minute, Lech’s fans threw a pyro missile on the pitch, which resulted in the interruption, and later termination of the match.
