Filip Marchwiński was awarded the Player of the Month and Youth Player of the Month in July. For the first time, the 21-year-old received both awards in the same month.
Lech’s homegrown player has had a brilliant start to the season. In the first league game of the campaign, Marchwiński scored twice against Piast (2:1). He was also a part of the starting line-up for the clash with Radomiak Radom (2:0).
“I feel overjoyed and proud. I wouldn’t be able to achieve it without my teammates and the coaching staff, hence I want to take this opportunity to thank them. It’s the first time that something like that has happened to me and it’s an amazing feeling. I have had a successful beginning [of the season]. I scored a few times and got an assist, all of which made me very happy. It’s a culmination of my hard work. I want to keep up the good performances for as long as possible,” said Filip.
It’s Marchwiński’s second Youth Player of the Month award, but the first time that he was recognized as the Player of the Month. Moreover, it’s the second time in history that the same player receives both awards in the same month. The first time that it happened – back in October 2021 – it was Lech’s homegrown player Jakub Kamiński who got two awards.
“I knew about it because I was texting “Kamyk”; he congratulated me, and we laughed that out of all players, it’s the two of us who managed to achieve it. It’s a nice feeling since Kuba is my friend and I wish him all the best. I feel that I have matured recently and that my role in the team has become more significant. I have been playing for Lech for years now, I’ve been through some stuff. I know what the reality is like and I think that I have reached a stage where I can take the responsibility and be decisive in the context of the outcome of a game,” explained Lech’s striker.
