Filip Marchwiński is leaving Lech Poznań on a permanent transfer to US Lecce. On Friday, the midfielder passed the medical tests and signed a contract with the Serie A club.
The midfielder has been competing for Lech Poznań since he was 8 - that's when he joined Lech’s Academy from UKS Skórzewo. Marchwiński was one of the brightest stars in all of the youth teams that he played for. During his career as a youngster, he won numerous titles, including the U-17 and U-19 Polish Championship. In the autumn of 2018, he made a debut for Lech’s B Team.
Not long later – in December – Marchwiński debuted for the club’s senior squad. He appeared on the pitch in a clash with Zagłębie Sosnowiec as a 16-year-old and set the final score to 6:0, becoming the youngest goalscorer in Lech’s history. In the following seasons, Marchwiński continued gaining experience on the top division pitches. In total, he made 166 appearances for Lech’s A Team, scored 28 goals, and accumulated 11 assists.
In 2022, the Polish midfielder and his teammates won the 8th Polish Championship title in the club’s history. Last season, the Pole hit another milestone in his career – he received a call-up from the Polish national team coach Michał Probierz and made his official debut in the senior squad.
Now, after 14 years, Marchwiński is joining US Lecce – a Serie A side – on a permanent deal. On Friday, the midfielder passed all of the medical tests and signed a 4-year contract.
