Starting July, Lech Poznań has a new technical sponsor - an Italian sportswear manufacturer, Macron. The 5-year sponsorship deal with this dynamically growing sports brand was announced during the Monday press conference.
“Our company has been on the market for 40 years already and for the past decade we have been expanding the brand globally. We manufacture sportswear and sports gear for i.a. football, handball, rugby, basketball, volleyball, and running. Last year, we became UEFA’s official partner and started providing the smallest European football federations with our sports gear,” explained Francesco Martinelli, Macron’s representative.
Since 2008, Macron experienced a 300% revenue growth and became a recognisable brand both in Europe, and worldwide. 10 years ago, the company sold a majority of its goods in Italy (70%), and only every third product was exported to one of the European countries. In 2016, the company sold only 26% of its products on their home market, while 65% of Macron gear was exported to European neighbours, and 7% was sent around the world (e.g. North and South America, Middle East, and Australia).
“It’s important for us to cooperate with a well-established brand. Macron isn’t yet recognisable in Poland but I am sure that this sponsorship deal will change that. The Italians are already cooperating with over 50 professional clubs, among them Lazio, Deportivo, and Sporting. Therefore, we are officially joining an amazing group of clubs and we are thrilled to be able to provide our teams and fans with the highest quality products,” said Marcin Wierzejewski, Director of Merchandise art Lech Poznan.
One of the key features of Macron’s sportswear is the possibility of designing unique and exclusive match kits. The company’s cooperation with different clubs has already proved extraordinary. For instance, PAOK Thessaloniki played in grey-and-black moro shirts, whilst Hajduk Split footballers wore kits with the names of hundreds of fans who participated in the club’s crowdfunding project.
On Monday, the club also released photos of Lech’s new match kits. Christian Gytkjaer, Maciej Makuszewski, and Matus Putnocky presented the home and away kits for the upcoming season.
