Lech Poznan lost the Sunday league clash with Legia Warsaw 1:2. Lech has, therefore, been unable to win the past 11 away games. Gytkjaer scored the one goal for the team from Poznan, his 14th in the league this season.
The match began terribly for the team from Poznan. Similarly to the previous clash in Warsaw, Lech conceded a goal as early as in the 2nd minute. Remy played a key role in the offensive action and he was the one who spotted Vesovic and sent him a well-timed pass between the defenders. Despite being closely marked by Vujadinovic, the Croatian striker placed the ball in the net without an effort.
Bjelica’s team was now forced to catch up. In the 15th minute, Radut got a chance to equalize after receiving a cross from Gumny, but Legia’s keeper intervened successfully and Lech got a corner instead. Shortly afterward, Vujadinovic came close to scoring, but once again, the hosts’ goalkeeper made no mistake.
10 minutes later Malarz was forced to intervene yet again. This time it was Majewski whose cross turned into a shot and the keeper flicked the ball over the crossbar at the last moment. However, Legia had their scoring chances too. Before halftime, the team from Warsaw came close to scoring the second goal, but Radovic’s header stopped on the crossbar.
In the second half, Lech had numerous opportunities to equalize too. In the 46th minute, Majewski raced into the box with the ball, but his attempt was successfully blocked by Legia’s defender Pazdan. After halftime, Lech gradually dominated the game, whilst Legia remained dangerous with their counterattacks. However, the team from Poznan defended relentlessly and managed to stop Legia’s offensive line from scoring again.
After an hour of play, Lech finally equalized. Radut raced into the box, dribbled past two defending players, and left the ball for Gytkjaer to place in the back of the net. The successful attempt ended a poor run of away matches without a goal scored. Legia was now even more determined to score for the second time that night. A couple of minutes later, Kucharczyk's shot flew just a few centimeters shy of the post.
Meanwhile, on the other end of the pitch, Majewski and Radut both attempted to surprise Legia’s keeper with strong shots, but neither of them succeeded. Just when it seemed that the two teams would have to share points, Kostevych handball in the box resulted in a penalty for Legia, which Kucharczyk converted into a second goal, worth 3 points.
