The two teams approached the game with too much respect for one another and in the first 20 minutes nothing happened at all. The fans at the PGE Arena had to wait 24 minutes for the first shot. Deleus precise shot from 25 meters hit the bar and landed near the goal line. The lineman had taken the right decision, signalizing the goal as the ball had crossed the line with its full diameter. The hosting team should be winning 2:0 three minutes later when Gostomskis pass landed at the feet of Matsui but the Japanese player missed being one-on-one with the goalkeeper. The second half began luckily for Lech. In the 50th minute Murawski who has just came on the pitch managed to pass the ball in front of the penalty area. Gergo Lovrencics didnt kick the ball clear, however, his bad shot somehow turned out to be too difficult to save for the defense of Lechia and the Hungarian player found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, giving him no chance. Having taken the lead, Lech Poznań began to completely dominate the game. In the 63rd minute the team from Poznań should have been winning 3:1. Murawski won the ball in front of the penalty area, passed to Pawłowski who found Hamalainen. The latter passed a perfect ball to Rafał Murawski whose shot from 9 meters somehow did not find the back of the net. A minute later Hamalainen was the one to waste a great chance. Lovrencics sent a great cross into the penalty area but the unmarked Finnish player missed with a header. The wasted chance could have taken a cruel revenge on Lech when Murawski luckily saved Grzelczaks header from the goal line. A minute later the team from Poznań had already set the match. Możdżeń sent a great ball to Teodorczyk who, with a heal pass, created a chance for Hamalainen. This time the ball found the back of the net. 7 minutes before the end of the game Lech was already winning 4:1. Lovrencsics cross from a corner kick found Teodorczyk.
