Lechia Gdansk - Lech Poznan 1:2

Lech Poznan put an end to Lechia's great series and won at PGE Arena 2:1. Kasper Hamalainen and Szymon Pawlowski scored the goals for the team from Poznan. Three rounds ahead of the end of the league Lech is still the leader of T-Mobile Ekstraklasa.

Lech went to Gdansk with an aim to keep the position of the league's leader and for that to happen Skorza's players had to win, considering that Legia who is placed second beat Pogon Szczecin on Saturday. The team from Poznan have already triumphed once in Gdansk this season, however since Jerzy Brzeczek has been appointed the coach of Lechia, the players did not lose a single match at home.

Since the beginning of the game the hosts were the ones who dominated the play, however it wasn't until the 17th minute that the players from Gdansk created a goal opportunity. It was Mila that checked Buric's focus with a free kick from the 19th meter. Lechia had another goal attempt in the 24th minute. This time it was Nazario that was shooting, but once again Lech's goalkeeper intervened successfully. Until the 30th minute Lech did not create a single good chance to score a goal, but when the players from Poznan finally played a good offensive action, the result changed. Sadajew dribbled between Lechia's defense line and played the ball back to Tralka. The latter wanted to shoot, however it came out more as a pass that Hamalainen turned into a goal. 4 minutes later it could have been 2:0, but Sadajew was blocked by one of the defenders in a controversial way. The hosts tried catching up before halftime, but Lech's defense was successfully winning in the air and blocking Vranjes' free kicks.

A minute into the second half Lechia's goalkeeper was beaten once again, however this time the linesman had to raise his flag as Kaminski who placed the ball in the net was caught offside. The hosts had a corner kick shortly afterwards and Vranjes could have equalized, but his shot was inaccurate. A few minutes later the same player sent an accurate shot in the direction of the goal, but Buric had no trouble intervening. In the 54th minute Nazario left Kedziora behind and passed the ball along the goal line, but unfortunately for the hosts Vranjes did not manage to redirect it into the net. Lechia kept on attacking, however Buric did not make a single mistake and with the help of the defense, the goalkeeper did not allow the ball to pass him. Kownacki and Pawlowski had chances of their own, but apart from those, the players from Gdansk were storming through Lech's defense line. It seemed as if Lechia was about to equalize, but to everyone's surprise it was Lech that scored first. Kaminski played the ball back to Buric and the goalkeeper kicked it far towards the other goal. Janicki let the ball pass him and unluckily for him Pawlowski took it over and sent it flying into the net. Lech's goalkeeper had to finish his great performance before the final time because of an injury. Gostomski came in for his teammate and he was right away tested by Lechia's players. The referee added 6 minutes and just as the injury time began, the hosts were awarded a penalty kick. Formella stopped the ball in the penalty area with his hand and the winger received a straight red card. Vranjes turned the penalty kick into a goal and put some hope among his teammates, however Lechia did not manage to equalize and it was Lech that took all three points home.
