Lech Poznan beat Legia Warsaw 3:1 and added another Polish Super Cup to its collection of trophies. Three homegrown players - Tomasz Kedziora, Marcin Kaminski and Karol Linetty - scored the goals for Lech.
The clash between Lech and Legia was the official opening of the season 2015/16. The Polish Champion was to face at INEA Stadium the team against whom they lost in the Polish Cup, but whom they left behind in the battle for the top position in the league.
Since the very beginning Lech was the team that controlled the match. A few minutes have passed and Marcin Robak could have already scored the first goal for Lech, but his shot flew above the crossbar. In the 6th minute the same duo, Pawlowski and Robak, tried turning the chaos under Legia's penalty area into a goal, but once again they failed. Seconds later INEA Stadium, filled in till the very last seat, exploded with joy. Douglas was the one to send a cross into the opponent's penalty area and Igor Lewczuk intervened, however he did it in an unfortunate way because the ball found Kedziora who redirected the ball into the net. Dusan Kuciak was left helpless.
It wasn't until Legia lost a goal that the team from Warsaw started attacking more intensively. Nemanja Nikolic tried shooting, but his attempt was inaccurate, then Michal Pazdan wanted to surprise Buric with a header, but even though the Bosnian goalkeeper had to intervene, the result remained unchanged.
The team from Poznan was in possession of the ball most of the time, often occupying the rival's penalty area. 10 minutes before halftime Lech finally succeeded in its offensive attacks. Linetty's shot was blocked, however Kaminski was in the right place at the right time and he was the one to beat Kuciak.
Legia could have diminished the losses soon after the second goal was scored, but Nemanja Nikolic did not use the opportunity given to him by Lechs defense. Legia's new player waited too long with a shot and before he actually did it, Tamas Kadar took the ball away from him. Shortly before halftime the team from Warsaw won a corner kick and the ball that was sent into the penalty area was accidentally redirected by Hamalainen, but Linetty who's been playing remarkably well that night, intervened successfully.
Since the beginning of the second half the team from Warsaw were the ones to attack more intensively, but Lech's defense was doing a very good job that night. The play seemed balanced, however the hosts had better goal attempts. Hamalainen and Thomalla could have scored the third goal for Lech, as well as Kaminski, but in every case it was either Kuciak that defended well, or the players inaccuracy.
The third goal was scored 7 minutes before the final whistle. Lech played out a wonderful team action which put Karol Linetty all alone against Kuciak and the young midfielder sent the ball past the goalkeeper and into the net. The fans from Warsaw started leaving the stadium while their players remained fighting till the very end and they eventually succeeded in scoring the one, honorable goal. Michal Zyro was the player that beat Buric following a corner kick. Nonetheless, the goal wasn't significant and in the end Lech was the team that added another Super Cup to its collection of trophies.
