Lech Poznań won 3:1 in the friendly clash with FK Čukarički Belgrad. Mikael Ishak, Kornel Lisman, and Tymoteusz Gmur scored the goals for the team from Poznań. It was Lech’s last winter training game.
In the first two friendly games that Lech played during the winter break, they got one loss and one draw. On Thursday afternoon, shortly before returning to Poznań, Niels Frederiksen’s squad faced Čukarički Belgrad – a team that is currently occupying the 8th place in the Serbian league. The side from Belgrad recently made changes in the coaching staff to fight for European competition qualifiers in the spring round; Marko Savić is now leading the Serbian squad. The coach is best known for his time in Estonia when he helped Levadia win the national title and the Estonian Cup.
Both teams created goal-scoring opportunities in the first half, but Čukarički first found the back of the net. One of the Serbian players sent a cross from the left flank into the box, right on Lazar Tufegdzic’s head, and the ball bounced right in front of Filip Bednarek before hitting the back of the net.
Čukarički didn’t enjoy their lead for long as less than 10 minutes later, their opponent equalized. Ian Hoffmann intercepted the ball on the right side of the box and set up Mikael Ishak with a great pass. The Swede fired a shot at the goal which bounced off one of his teammates, but the striker’s follow-up attempt ended in the net.
An hour into the game, Niels Frederiksen’s squad was awarded a penalty kick for a handball. The youngster Kornel Lisman converted the set piece into the second goal for Niels Frederiksen’s squad.
15 minutes later, another young player – Tymoteusz Gmur – set the final score to 3:1. Gisli Thordarson sent the ball to the right flank and Ishak let it pass so that it reached Ian Hoffmann. The latter raced down the flank, ran into the box, and set up Gmur with a pass that the youngster effortlessly redirected into the net.
The clash with Čukarički was Lech’s last friendly of the winter break. On Friday morning, Niels Frederiksen and his players will return to Poznań to continue preparing for the spring round. Lech’s first league match is scheduled for January 31st (8:30 PM) – they will face Widzew Łódź.
