Karlo Muhar joined Lech. The defensive midfielder from Croatia signed a 4-year contract with the club from Poznan.
The 23-year-old footballer from Zagreb began his football career at the local Dinamo. In the years 2015-2018 he competed regularly for the club’s B team. Whilst playing in the Croatian second division, he appeared on the pitch 70 times and scored 5 goals.
In the season 2017/18, Muhar made his debut for Dinamo Zagreb’s first team which then went on to win the Croatian championship title. At the beginning of the recent campaign, the defensive midfielder moved to Inter Zapresic where he won a place in the starting line-up and played in 37 games (34 top-division matches). Throughout the spring round of the season, Muhar was given the role of the team’s captain. In the end, Inter Zapresic finished 8th in the league table. In addition, the club went all the way to Croatian Cup semi-finals where Muhar’s team was beaten by HNK Rijeka.
“One of Karlo Muhar’s biggest advantages is his physique. Last season, he was a regular starter at his former team and as a captain, he led the whole squad. On the pitch, he plays on the position of a defensive midfielder and is very effective at direct clashes as well as regulating the team’s pace. Aside from the defensive responsibilities, he is also active in the offence and has a great shot from outside the box,” explained Lech’s Sporting Director, Tomasz Rzasa.
The Croatian midfielder expressed his happiness to join the Polish club:
“I am thrilled about my transfer. Before I made this decision, I talked to Nenad Bjelica multiple times and he spoke very highly of Lech. He was actually encouraging me to sign a contract with the club. I am hoping to adapt to the team quickly and fight for trophies,” said Lech’s newest transfer.
Karlo Muhar signed a 4-year contract with Lech. The Croatian midfielder is the second player to join the club from Poznan this transfer window; Mickey van der Hart (goalkeeper) was the first signing of the summer.
