On Wednesday Christian Gytkjaer signed a contract with Lech Poznan. The deal will last 2 years with an option to extend the agreement for another year.
During this year’s springtime, the Danish forward played for TSV Monachium after moved to Germany from Scandinavia. Throughout his career, Gytkjaer wore the shirts of Rosenborg Trondheim where he won Norwegian Championship and FC Nordsjelland back when the Danish club dominated the league. The forward has a number of caps for the junior national teams on his account. In November 2016 the player debuted in Danish senior team.
“I am thrilled to have signed a contract with Lech. It’s an important day in my career. I cannot wait to play for Lech. Of course, I am excited about my upcoming debut. However, first I have to work hard during the training sessions to win a place in the starting line-up,” explained Lech’s new footballer.
The 27-year-old is a clever striker who feels best in the opponent’s box and converts chances into goals with an ease. He knows how to position himself in the penalty area. Gytkjaer is also very problematic to defend. His strengths include playing without the ball and his technique.
“He is the type of player who’s capable of scoring a number of goals and this is exactly what we need in our team. He’s been scoring regularly throughout his career and we’re sure it will be no different in Lech,” said Piotr Rutkowski, Lech’s vice-chairman. “We’ve been observing Christian for a couple of years, even back when he was playing for FK Haugesund. Then he joined Rosenborg and he was no longer within our reach. We are happy he will now play for us,” added the vice-chairman.
Gytkjaer will officially become a part of the team on Saturday, 1st of July. Therefore, he won’t be registered as a part of the squad for the I round of Europa League qualifications. The forward will have an opportunity to debut if Lech advances to the next round.
