Lech beat Zaglebie Sosnowiec 4:0 in a league clash. Having won all matches so far, the team from Poznan is ranked at the top of the table.
Zaglebie were the ones who kicked off the match and also created the first scoring chance. Sanogo rushed into the box and wanted to force a penalty kick, but instead of getting one, the player was shown a yellow card. Shortly afterward, Lech successfully placed the ball in the back of the net for the first time that evening. Tiba sent a perfect long ball to Tomczyk and the latter redirected it to Amaral who finished the offensive action with a shot into the back of the net.
For the next quarter or so, it was Zaglebie that had the ball for a majority of the time but none of their attacks ended with a shot on target. Meanwhile, Lech waited for opportunities to counterattack and one of their rapid offensive actions ended with a second goal. Makuszewski raced down the pitch and sent a backward pass to Tomczyk who put the ball in the back of the net with a nice, technical shot that bounced off the crossbar.
Sanogo had an opportunity to score one for Zaglebie but his attempt was off target. For the next period of time, most of the play took place in the midfield. A couple of minutes before halftime, Jozwiak sent a cross into Zaglebie’s box which Amaral converted into a good header. The keeper saved his shot but failed to stop Tomczyk’s attempt and the score changed to 3:0. Lech had two more scoring opportunities before halftime but both of them were stopped by Zaglebie’s keeper.
The opening minutes of the second half were dominated by the team from Sosnowiec, however, once more the guests struggled to find the target. In the 57th minute, Lech had a chance of their own when Tomczyk sent a great ball to Jozwiak who dribbled past one of the defenders and fired a poor shot. A couple of minutes later, Zaglebie had the best scoring chance but Sanogo’s attempt stopped on the crossbar.
Finally, in the 70th minute, Lech set the final score to 4:0. This time it was Gajos who placed the ball in the net with an impressive shot from a free kick. The next 15 minutes were less exhilarating, with most of the actions taking place in the midfield and occasional offensive attacks from Zaglebie. The two sides had a couple of decent goal scoring opportunities but they didn’t convert any of them into a goal, thus the match ended with a four-nil win for Lech.
