In the first sparring match of the preseason, Lech Poznań beat Zagłębie Lubin 3:0 following an own goal from Konrad Forenc and great attempts from Joao Amaral and Dani Ramirez.
16 days into the preseason, Lech Poznań played the first training match. On Wednesday afternoon, the team from Bułgarska street faced Zagłębie Lubin – a top division side that finished three places higher than Lech last season – on the training pitches in Opalenica. However, the previous campaign is to be forgotten for the Poznań squad, hence they focus solely on the upcoming season which kicks off on July 23rd.
The sparring match against Zagłębie was Lech’s first test ahead of the league start. A few new names appeared in Lech’s starting line-up, among them debutant Filip Wilak, the new signing Joel Pereira and two players who returned from loan – Joao Amaral and Mateusz Skrzypczak.
Amaral kicked off the match well and managed to create plenty of goal-scoring opportunities, the first of which was in the 8th minute. Even though he didn’t get a goal the first time around, he was more effective in his next attempts. It was following Amaral’s pass that Konrad Forenc placed the ball in his own net. 5 minutes later, the Portuguese converted a precise cross from Pereira into a second goal for the team from Poznań. Meanwhile, on the other end of the pitch, just before halftime, Filip Bednarek saved Lech from conceding a goal as he stopped Jakub Wójcicki’s strong shot on target.
In the second half, only Jakub Kamiński remained on the pitch out of all players who were in the starting line-up. The second part of the match wasn’t as fast-paced as the first 45 minutes but both Lech and Zagłębie found a way to score. In the last 15 minutes of the game, Jesper Karlström impressed with a great through-ball which was successfully delivered to Dani Ramirez. The latter converted the pass into a beautiful lob and a third goal for the team from Poznań. Shortly afterwards, the same player made a mistake in Lech’s penalty area and the referee gave Zagłębie a penalty kick which Saša Živec effortlessly turned into a goal.
The match ended with a 3:1 win for the team from Poznań. The next sparring game is scheduled for Saturday, July 3rd (5 pm). This time, Lech is going to face Lechia Gdańsk.
