In the pre-last match of the season Lech Poznan beat Wisla Cracow 2:1 at home. All goals were scored before halftime. Majewski and Makuszewski were the goalscorers who helped Lech secure 3 points.
Wisla was the first one to attack. Malecki was left unmarked in Lech’s box, but his shot was easily stopped by Putnocky. Despite the initial advantage of Wisla, Lech scored first. In the 9th minute Majewski received a pass from Kownacki and since the midfielder was left with a lot of free space around him, he raced towards Wisla’s goal and beat the goalkeeper with a precise shot into the back of the net.
Lech kept on attacking and they had a couple of good scoring chances, some of a result of Wisla’s errors. For instance, in the 21st minute Glowacki sent a pass to the goalkeeper, but Makuszewski intercepted it, passed the goalkeeper and put the ball in the goal. Nonetheless, Lech’s joy lasted short since a few minutes later Wisla pulled one back. In a chaotic air clash Putnocky crashed with Kostevych and Boguski used the opportunity to place the ball in an empty goal.
The goal visibly motivated Wisla to fight. In the 33rd minute the guests had a chance to equalize after Malecki sent a well-timed, precise pass to Boguski, but the attempt was blocked by Kedziora at the right moment. 4 minutes later Bartkowski crossed the ball into the box, just behind Lech’s defensive line. Bednarek recovered it and passed it to Putnocky, however, due to miscommunication, Boguski intercepted the pass and tried to lob Lech’s goalkeeper, but without success.
The second half did not begin well for the hosts. Before both teams returned to the pitch, Wilusz had to substituted due to an injury and Nielsen replaced him for the second part of the game. In addition, a couple of minutes later Gajos suffered in a direct clash with Llonch. The midfielder remained on the pitch for a few more minutes, but eventually he had to come off and Tralka came in instead. However, that did not weaken Lech. Shortly afterward the hosts had a chance to score the third goal. Makuszewski’s cross from the right flank reached Kownacki, but the young forward was blocked before he could fire a shot.
The 20-year-old was very active in the second half. For instance, in the 64th minute he received a good pass from Makuszewski, but his header turned out to be too weak to cause problems to the goalkeeper. Lech was clearly determined to score once again, but Wisla didn’t give up either. The guests had a couple of good scoring opportunities, among them a free kick that Stilic converted into a precise shot that hit the post.
Lech was awarded a free kick shortly afterward as well. Makuszewski was fouled by Wisla’s captain right outside the penalty area, however, Lech’s attempt was less dangerous than Wisla’s recent one. The hosts had a couple more opportunities to score from set pieces. Robak’s attempt following a corner kick was off target, while Tralka was blocked in the 87th minute by one of the defenders before he could fire a shot that was likely to fall into the back of Wisla’s net. Meanwhile, on the other end of the pitch, Boguski hit the post in the 94th minute. The referee ended the match a moment later and Lech collected all 3 points.
