In the 18th round of Ekstraklasa Lech Poznan won with Wisla Cracow 2:0. Kownacki's and Pawlowski's goals got Lech three additional points and a fourth consecutive win.
Lech dominated the play since the opening minutes but the players couldn't convert this domination into goals. It wasn't until the 14th minute that the hosts built their first goal-scoring opportunity. Pawlowski gave the ball to Jevtic and the latter sent a long pass parallel to the goal, but neither Kownacki nor Dudka managed to tap the ball into the net. However, 6 minutes later the score changed. Linetty was the one who recovered the ball in the midfield and rushed into the penalty area where he was fouled by Sadlok. The referee pointed to the white spot without hesitation, Wisla's player saw a red card and Kownacki converter the penalty kick into an opening goal. Wisla was now playing in 10 men and its offensive seemed weak. Meanwhile Lech presented itself well in the attack and the hosts seemed determined to score again. Dudka had a great goal-scoring opportunity when he received a good cross from Douglas, but Cierzniak blocked the ball successfully.
After halftime Lech continued searching for another good goal-scoring opportunity, especially Linetty who was impressively active and successful in the midfield. The young player had a chance in the opening minutes of the second half, but he was stopped by Glowacki. Once in a while Wisla attacked Lech's goal. However, the hosts' defense line was solid and cooperated well enough not to lose a single goal in the fifth match in a row. Lech's offensive wasn't any worse and it created multiple chances to score. The best one was around 75th minute when Lech built a counterattack that Jevtic wasted since he waited too long with a pass to Linetty. A moment later Wisla's defense line had another problem to solve when Pawlowski sent a shot in the direction of the guests' goal. In the 85th minute Lech finally succeeded with its offensive actions and scored the second goal. Formella was left unmarked and thus had space and time to pass to Pawlowski who set the score to 2:0 without much difficulty. That win moved Lech up the table to the 9th rank.
