Lech Poznan played its first friendly game of the preparatory phase ahead of the upcoming league round. The team from Poznan faced the third-league Sokol Kleczew and beat their rival 8:0. It was the only game planned before the 12-day training camp on Cyprus.
Since the beginning of the match Lech remained in control of the ball. In the 15th minute the team from Poznan placed the ball in the net for the first time that afternoon. Kedziora’s shot stopped on the crossbar, but Tomczyk was in the right place at the right time and he redirected the ball into the net. It took Lech 11 minutes to change the score to 2:0. Similarly, Tomczyk was the one to finish the offensive action. The young footballer converted Kostevych’s cross from the left flank into a goal.
Lech’s advantage in the first half was indisputable. Kleczew’s players had little to say and not a lot of opportunities to attack, therefore they focused on defending. Meanwhile, Lech continued causing problems to their rival’s defensive line. Majewski’s shot from the 36th minute flew above the crossbar, while Radut’s attempt stopped on the post, and therefore the first half ended with a two-goal lead for Lech.
A couple of new players appeared on the pitch after halftime, among them Puchacz and Kadar. The formation changed and now Kostevych was moved into the midfield. It took Lech a bit more than 10 minutes to score again. In the 62nd minute Kostevych was fouled in front of the box and he converted the awarded free kick into a brilliant goal, his first one for Lech. A moment later the score changed to 4:0. Sokolow’s goalkeeper made a mistake and Gutierrez recovered the ball and placed it in the empty net.
2 minutes later Puchacz spotted Kedziora running down the flank and sent him a well-timed pass. Lech’s defender sent the ball rolling next to the goalkeeper and Gorski tried to intervene, but instead placed the ball in his own goal. In the 69th minute Wasilewski’s attempt stopped on the crossbar. The 5 goals did not seem to satisfy Lech and they kept on attacking. Puchacz and Tralka built a great offensive action that the latter finished with a good, accurate shot. A couple of minutes later Lech was awarded a penalty kick that Kownacki converted into a goal. The same player scored again in the 89th minute, setting the final score to 8:0.
