Lech Poznan beat Slask Wroclaw in the 18th league match of the season. Amaral and Gytkjaer set the final score to 2:0.
The first two shots of the match belonged to Lech Poznan. Jozwiak’s attempt from outside the box was off target and so was Gytkjaer’s shot from a free kick. For the next 15 minutes, the two teams fought for the ball in the midfield and struggled to take control of the game.
Around the 30th minute, Lech was given another free kick. Kostevych's shot hit the wall and Gytkjaer’s try was blocked by Slask’s defenders. For the next couple of minutes, neither of the sides managed to get close to their opponent’s penalty area. Shortly before halftime, Amaral sent a precise cross into the box, which Gytkjaer converted into a header that was only slightly off target. A moment later, the Dane tried surprising Slask’s keeper with a shot from outside the box, but the ball flew above the crossbar.
The hosts began the second half well. Amaral’s cross into the box reached Gytkjaer and the latter controlled the ball, turned around and, with three defenders surrounding him, managed to fire a shot on target that was successfully stopped by the keeper. Slask responded with Chrapka’s attempt which missed the goal by centimetres. The same player fired another shot shortly afterwards, but this time the ball was stopped by Lech’s goalkeeper.
Around the 70th minute, Gytkjaer got another good goal-scoring opportunity, however, Slask's keeper once more intervened perfectly. Similarly, on the other end of the pitch, it was the goalkeeper that triumphed in a clash with Dorde Cotra. A couple of minutes later, Lech managed to place the ball in the back of the net for the first time that Friday evening. Amaral’s beautiful shot from outside the box left the goalkeeper helpless.
The hosts remained in control of the match and in the injury time they managed to set the score to 2:0. Janicki sent a long pass to Gytkjaer and the Dane, in a one-on-one clash with the keeper, put the ball in the back of the net. The Friday win was Lech’s first triumph since coach Nawalka took over the team.
