In the last winter friendly match, Lech Poznan was beaten 0:3 by the Ukrainian Champions, Shakhtar Donetsk.
The opening minutes of the friendly match held in Belek were relatively balanced with both teams fighting for the ball in the midfield and neither managing to create good enough scoring chances. Shortly before 30 minutes had passed, Lech attacked for the first time that afternoon. Jozwiak led a counterattack and with the help of Makuszewski, Amaral who was close to the ball received a well-timed pass. However, Shakhtar’s defenders recovered the ball quickly.
The Ukrainian Champions responded with an offensive attack successfully stopped by Buric. However, it didn’t take Shakhtar long to take the lead. Moraes, who was left unmarked in the box, received a pass from the corner of the pitch and effortlessly redirected it into the back of the net. From then on, Shakhtar dominated the match and created numerous scoring chances, most of which didn’t end with a goal thanks to Buric’s interventions. 5 minutes before halftime, Jozwiak once again led a counterattack, but this time it was Marchwinski who was successfully stopped by the Ukrainian defenders.
During the break, a rain of hailstones passed above the pitch forcing the referee to extend halftime in order to ensure that the pitch was suitable to play on.
Lech attacked intensively in the opening minutes of the second half, clearly determined to equalize. Amaral came close to scoring following a great pass from Jevtic, but Piatow was quicker than the Portuguese. Shortly afterwards, Jozwiak decided for an individual run which he finished off with a cross into the box, but none of his teammates was there to intercept the pass. The young midfielder and Jevtic were the most active players on the pitch. The two built a great scoring chance a couple of minutes later which ended with Zhamaletdinov facing the keeper alone, but unluckily for Lech, the Russian striker lost the clash.
5 minutes before the final whistle, Ukrainians found the back of the net once more. This time it was Solomon who beat Buric with a precise shot. Just as the match was about to end, Shakhtar counterattacked again and Kayode set the final score to 3:0 for the Ukrainians.
