Lech Poznań won in the 8th round of Lotto Ekstraklasa. The team from Poznań beat Pogoń Szczecin at home 3:1 and moved up the league rank onto the 8th position. Marcin Robak (double) and Abdul Aziz Tetteh scored the goals for Lech.
Bjelica’s first match began badly for the hosts. In the 7th minute the team from Poznań was already losing one to nil. Gyursco received a wide pass from Deley, dribbled past Kędziora and sent a ball along the goal line that Zwoliński redirected into the net without problems. However, 3 minutes later the score changed again. This time Jevtić added an assist to his account and Robak finished off the action by dribbling past the goalkeeper and placing the ball in the goal.
Lech was concentrated on the offensive and wanted to settle the match by scoring another goal as quickly as possible. In the 13th minute Pogoń’s goalkeeper was forced to intervene when Kędziora fired a shot at the goal. Meanwhile, Zwoliński had another good goal-scoring opportunity. Deley left Kędziora behind yet again, passed to Kort and the latter gave the ball to Zwoliński who waited too long to surprise Putnocky.
Lech’s good performance brought results in the 27th minute when Pawłowski was fouled by Frączczak in the penalty area and Robak converted the penalty kick into a goal. Shortly before the break Pogoń got a chance to equalize, but Zwoliński’s shot turned out to be easy for Putnocky to save.
After the halftime Pogoń focused on the offensive, with a clear aim to remain in possession of the ball for as long as possible. However, that did not bring the desirable results since Lech made little errors in the defence, making it unable for Pogoń to even fire a shot. The guests’ positional attacks gave Lech an opportunity to counterattack, but neither of the hosts’ rapid offensive actions were good enough to lead to a goal.
An hour into the match Lech got another good goal-scoring opportunity. Robak left Rudol behind, sent a decent cross into the penalty area, but Kudła was faster than Majewski. Shortly afterwards Robak fired a shot at the goal, but it wasn’t on target. In the 63rd minute Kadar fouled Frączczak in the penalty area and Pogoń was awarded a penalty kick. However, Putnocky’s great intervention saved Lech from conceding a goal.
Bjelica’s players couldn’t be sure of the score until the last minute, and so they started attacking more intensively. Neither did Pawłowski’s attempt, nor Arajuuri’s result in a goal. In the 79th minute Gajos fired a good shot from a free kick, but the goalkeeper intervened without a mistake. Nevertheless, when the same player got an opportunity to convert one of the corner kicks into a cross, Tetteh was in the right place at the right time and the goalkeeper was helpless.
