In the 35th round of T-Mobile Ekstraklasa Lech Poznan won 1:0 with Pogon Szczecin. Karol Linetty scored the goal that helped Lech secure its position on the top of the league.
According to the predictions the hosts were supposed to attack since the very first whistle and that is what happened at INEA Stadium on the Sunday evening. In the first quarter Pogon had trouble leaving their half of the pitch. Already in the 2nd minute Kadar decided to check the focus of Pogon's defense with a shot from a distance. Although the ball went past the post, it was the first warning for Michniewicz's players. A few minutes later it should have been 1:0 for Lech. Murawski lost the ball in his own penalty area, Hamalainen took it over and passed to Sadajew, but the latter's shot was too weak and the goalkeeper managed to block it. Sadajew had another good opportunity a moment later, however this time his shot was inaccurate. The guests had to wait until the 31st minute for their first goal attempt. It was Nunes that sent the ball flying towards Lech's goal from the 20th meter, however Gostomski intervened successfully. This opportunity to score a goal seemed to have motivated Pogon and soon after its players had another chances. Matras' shot from a distance was blocked, however the ball found Murawski and the latter had a great opportunity to change the result, but he sent the ball flying above the crossbar. Despite Pogon's attacks, it was Lech that scored just before halftime. Pawlowski dribbled past the defending players, passed to Linetty who stood on the 13th meter, while the young midfielder placed the ball in the net with a precise shot.
After the halftime the image of the game looked similar - Lech controlled the match and kept on pressing on its rivals. Nonetheless, the hosts lacked a good finish to change the result to 2:0. Neither Hamalainen, Sadajew nor Keita managed to convert their chances into a goal, and therefore at last Lech was the team to collect all three points, which allowed them to secure the place at the very top of the league rank.
