Lech Poznan drew the home league clash with Piast Gliwice 1:1 following a goal from Gytkjaer.
During the opening minutes of the match, a majority of the game concentrated around the midfield where the two teams fought for the ball. Lech managed to create their first scoring chance when Tiba got the ball near Piast’s box and fired a shot from outside the penalty area, but the attempt was slightly off target. The next opportunity to score came along when Amaral finished off Makuszewski’s individual run with an imprecise header.
For the next 15 minutes, the two sides struggled to take control of the game and neither of the teams remained in possession of the ball for a longer period of time. In the 35th minute, Jozwiak decided for an individual run and after dribbling past two defenders, he was fouled inside Piast’s box. Lech was given a penalty kick that Gytkjaer converted into a goal effortlessly. The hosts had an opportunity to score a second goal shortly afterward but this time Jozwiak’s attempt was successfully stopped by Piast’s keeper. Before halftime, Makuszewski and Gytkjaer fired two shots at their rival’s goal but neither of them was precise enough to beat the goalkeeper.
Lech began the second half well with a couple of good scoring chances, but they failed to convert those opportunities into goals. In the 55th minute, Piast responded with imprecise attempts from Mak and Dziczek. Meanwhile, a couple of minutes later, Tralka’s header was easily stopped by Piast’s keeper.
In the 65th minute, Piast had a perfect chance to equalize when Valencia fired a dangerous shot at Lech’s goal, but Putnocky intervened impressively. 5 minutes later, Tiba and Jozwiak both came close to placing the ball in the net, however once more the goalkeeper triumphed. Finally, Piast managed to score an equalizer following a corner kick and a good shot from Hateley. Dioni’s attempt from a few minutes later turned out to be too weak to beat the keeper, whilst Gytkjaer’s header was off target, therefore the match ended with a 1-1 draw and the two teams had to share points.
