Lech Poznań - Olimpia Grudziądz 2:1

The opening minutes were dominated by Olimpia, which got two good opportunities to score before the match truly began. Warchoł attempted to surprise Lech’s goalkeeper with a shot, while his teammate Ciechanowski tried a similar thing a few minutes later, but in both cases the ball did not roll into the back of the net. Finally Olimpia converted one of its fast offensive actions into a goal. Lech’s defensive line made an error that helped Warchoł place the ball in the net with a strong shot.

Lech had to wait for its first goal-scoring opportunity. Wasilewski’s shot from the right side of the pitch flew a few centimetres next to the post. Neither of Lech’s attempts was good enough to beat Olimpia’s defensive line, thus when the referee announced halftime, the team from Poznan was losing one to nil.

The second half was marked by Lech’s intensified offensive actions. Makuszewski’s shot from the 11th meter flew above the crossbar, but shortly afterwards his teammates succeeded in placing the ball in the net. Jevtić was the one who converted a free kick into a precise shot that left the goalkeeper helpless.

Having scored a goal, Lech seemed even more determined to crash Olimpia’s defensive line once again. 10 minutes before the final time Tomczyk, a debutant in the senior team, finished off Makuszewski’s cross and changed the score.

Lech remained in control of the play until the last minute. Jevtić and Pawłowski could have scored the third goal, but neither’s shot was good enough to cause problems to Olimpia’s goalkeeper.
