In the 23rd round of Lotto Ekstraklasa, Lech Poznan beat Legia Warsaw 2:0 at home.
Lech was the first one to fire a shot on target. Tiba attempted to surprise Majecki with a shot from inside the box, but the keeper caught the ball without problems. In their next offensive action, Lech scored for the first time that night. Gajos converted a corner kick into a cross that caused chaos in the box. Vujadinovic was in the right place at the right time and he tapped the ball into the back of the net. For the next 15 minutes, the two teams struggled to take control of the match and neither of them managed to create scoring chances. However, as the time passed, it was the squad from Poznan that gradually started dominating the game.
Shortly before halftime, Kucharczyk caused problems to Lech’s defensive line, but luckily for the hosts, his shot was off target. A moment later Gajos got an opportunity to send a long cross into the box where Jevtic was waiting, however, the Swiss midfielder lacked precision. Before either of the teams could create another chance, the referee ended the first half.
The second part of the match also began well for the hosts. Jozwiak decided for an individual run which he finished off with a strong shot, however, Legia’s keeper intervened well. Lech successfully dominated the game and built goal-scoring opportunities, but struggled to convert them into goals. Finally, the team from Warsaw responded with a dangerous counterattack but Buric stopped Cafu’s header without problems.
On the other end of the pitch, Jevtic tried changing the score to 2:0, however, his attempt was off target. Following that scoring chance for Lech, it was the team from the capital that took control of the game but couldn’t find a way to equalize. When the hosts finally managed to approach Legia’s penalty area, Jozwiak was fouled in the box and Lech was given a penalty kick that Gytkjaer effortlessly converted into a goal. The team from Poznan remained in possession of the ball in the closing minutes of the match and stopped Legia from taking away the win from them.
