On Sunday, Lech significantly diminished their chances to end the season on the league podium. Mariusz Rumak’s squad lost 1:2 to Legia at home after scoring two own goals. Joel Pereira’s incredible shot from outside the box was one of the few positive highlights of the game.
Following the Friday and Saturday league games, the top of the league table became very cramped. In order to take a breath from the pressure of the competition, Lech needed to beat Legia in the Sunday clash. However, the opening minutes proved that it wouldn’t be an easy task. The team from the capital quickly took the lead thanks to Paweł Wszołek, but VAR disallowed the goal because of a crucial foul in the midfield. However, that didn’t discourage Legia. In the 14th minute, referee Szymon Marciniak awarded the team from Warsaw with a penalty kick after Barry Douglas fouled Marc Gual in the box. Once again, the hosts were very lucky as Bartosz Mrozek successfully stopped Josue’s shot. Unfortunately, the joy and relief were cut short because less than a minute later Miha Blazić accidentally placed the ball in his own net. From then on, most of the play took place in the midfield with neither of the sides managing to create very good goal-scoring opportunities. Then, shortly before halftime, Bartosz Salamon's clearance didn’t go according to plan and he ended up scoring the second own-goal of the match.
In the second half, Lech held onto the ball for a majority of the time but failed to cause problems for Legia’s defensive line. Finally, in the 83rd minute, the hosts pulled one goal back thanks to Pereira’s beautiful, technical shot from outside the box which Kacper Tobiasz had no chance of saving. However, that turned out to be one of the few positive highlights of the match since Lech ended up losing three important league points.
