Legia Warsaw triumphed at INEA Stadium on Saturday and won with Lech 2:0. Nikolić scored the two goals for the team from Warsaw, both in the first half. Despite Lech's indisputable advantage in the second part of the match, the hosts failed to score.
Lech's players were the first to build a goal-scoring opportunity. Nick Bille recovered the ball in the rival's penalty area and Gajos attempted to place it in the net, but the goalkeeper stopped the ball. Lech was awarded a corner kick during which Kadar was pushed down by one of the defending players from Warsaw, yet the referee failed to notice the foul.
Legia started dominating the match in the 30th minute. Prijović tried lobbing Burić, but luckily for the hosts, the goalkeeper touched the ball and it stopped on the crossbar. Nikolić recovered the ball and sent another shot flying in the direction of Lechs goal, but again, Burić intervened successfully.
The guests' domination resulted in a goal. Wilusz wanted to give the ball back to Burić, but his pass was easily intercepted by Nikolić and the Hungarian, having only the goalkeeper to beat, placed the ball in the back of the net. Shortly afterwards Duda was fouled by Aziz Tetteh inside the penalty area and the referee had no other choice but to award Legia with a penalty kick, which Nikolić converted into a goal with a shot too strong for Burić to stop.
Lech's players came out for the second half determined to catch up with their opponent. However, the guests seemed to have better goal-scoring opportunities. Jędrzejczyk hit the crossbar, while Nikolić yet again intercepted a pass and had a good chance to score, but Burić stopped him just in time.
Meanwhile, Lech had a couple chances to score. In the 66th minute Jóźwiak sent a good, precise ball to Bille along the goal, but the Dane missed it by centimeters. A few minutes later Lech counterattacked quite effectively, but Lewczuk figured out Jóźwiak's plan to pass to Bille and stopped the opponents offensive action.
What Lech lacked most were shots on target. Despite a clear domination in the second half, Legia's goalkeeper intervened very rarely. Even Jevtić's and Gajos' shots were either blocked, or easy to save. Thus, Lech failed to surprise Legia and in result lost at INEA Stadium 0:2.
