Lech Poznan beat Lechia Gdansk in a home league clash 3:0. Tralka, Gytkjaer, and Jevtic scored for the team from Poznan.
The match could have begun terribly for the hosts. Lechia’s offensive tactics resulted in a great scoring chance in the 5th minute. Lech’s defensive line made a mistake which enabled Slawczew to come very close to the goal, but luckily for the hosts, the player’s shot hit the side net. Lech responded 3 minutes later with a header from Vujadinovic that was easily stopped by Lechia’s keeper.
The hosts didn’t dominate the game, but were much more effective than their opponent. In the 17th minute, a chaos in Lechia’s box enabled Tralka to put the ball in the back of the net. Lechia’s keeper was left helpless once more before halftime when Gytkjaer received a long ball from Gajos and beat the goalkeeper with a strong flat shot.
However, Lech’s team was forced to deal with numerous injuries. Bjelica made 3 substitutions before the break which limited the coach’s options in the 2nd half. Situm, Buric, and Radut had to leave the pitch after each one of them collided with an opponent and suffered an injury.
After halftime, Bjelica’s players scored the third goal and set the final score. In the 55th minute, Jevtic won a direct clash with Lukasik in the box, left the defender behind and beat the keeper with a strong, precise shot. It was the midfielder’s 8th goal this season. Despite the advantage, Lech needed to watch out for Lechia’s counterattacks which often resulted in good scoring chances.
The hosts remained in control of the game but didn’t increase the tempo unless they came close to Lechia’ goal. In the 69th minute, Majewski came close to scoring the fourth goal who decided for an individual run and finished it off with a short that was easily stopped by the keeper.
Lechia had a couple of good scoring opportunities too. In the 72nd minute, Chrzanowski was just about to fire a shot at Lech’s goal when Gumny blocked his at the very last moment. 4 minutes before the final whistle Lechia came close to scoring once more, but this time Peszko mishit the ball and wasted a decent scoring chance. Therefore, the match ended with a comfortable win for Lech.
