In the 2nd round of Ekstraklasa Lech Poznan was to face Lechia Gdansk. The previous week both teams were beaten by a theoretically weaker opponents and so they had something to prove on Saturday at INEA Stadium, especially that both clubs are considered the favorites of the race for the championship.
Skorza sent a different lineup to fight against Lechia. Neither Denis Thomalla nor Dariusz Formella appeared in the first eleven. Mariusz Robak and Darko Jevtic filled in their places. The guests were the ones who attacked first and as soon as in the 3rd minute Lechia's players tried surprising Buric with a shot at his goal. Even though the team from Gdansk was in possession of the ball, the hosts seemed to control the match and they soon got a chance of their own to score a goal, but Robak's shot was redirected by Marko Maric.
However, a few minute later it was already 1:0 for Lech. Darko Jevtic took over the ball from Lechia's players as they attempted to counterattack, and passed it to Hamalainen. The latter controlled the ball and after a few minutes of running he sent a precise shot in the direction of the goal. The ball hit the post and fell into the back of the net.
Immediately Lechia attempted to equalize. Both Wojtkowiak and Mila had a chance to score, but their offensive actions weren't successul, and so weren't Lech's.
After halftime the play became much harsher. Lechia did not seize its offensive, while Lech wanted to score the second goal. Both teams played the game at a high pace, not willing to stop their attacks. As the time passed, the guests were the ones who started dominating and 15 minutes before the end they equalized. Nazario was to take the corner kick and he sent the ball into the penalty where Janicki redirected it into the corner of the goal.
Right after conceding one, the team from Poznan started pressing harder with an aim to score the goal that would give them all three points. Neither did Robak, Douglas, Lovrencsics nor Thomalla manage to convert their chances into a goal. However, when in the injury time Robak finished a wonderful team action by placing the ball in the back of the net, INEA Stadium exploded with joy.
