In the second preseason sparring match, Lech Poznań lost to Lechia Gdańsk 0:1.
On Saturday afternoon, Lech Poznań welcomed Lechia Gdańsk to their home ground for the second sparring match of the 2021/22 preseason. In the first training game, the team from Poznań beat Zagłębie Lubin 3:1. This time, Lech also faced a top-division Polish side. Lechia had a better ‘warm up’ as they already played two sparring games in the past weeks – against Raków Częstochowa (4:2) and Legia Warsaw (2:3).
The hosts were the ones who attacked first and within 10 minutes, they created two good goal-scoring opportunities. However, Dani Ramirez’s shot from outside the box wasn’t precise enough and Antonio Milić’s header was off target. Michał Skóraś also tried surprising Lechia’s keeper but his attempt was equally unsuccessful.
The first half was rather slow as both teams tried putting to life the tactics they practised during the first few weeks of the preseason. In the 22nd minute, Lechia found the back of the net thanks to an impressive shot from Ilkay Durmus that left van der Hart helpless. After that, Lech took control of the match and dominated on the pitch whilst their rival waited for chances to counterattack.
In the second half, Lech also remained in possession of the ball for a majority of the time and even managed to create a few goal-scoring opportunities. In the 54th minute, Skóraś could have gotten an equaliser for his side but his shot from up close was successfully stopped by Lechia’s keeper, Zlatan Alomerović. Mateusz Skrzypczak also came close to scoring but his shot was slightly too strong and the ball flew above the crossbar. In the last part of the match, Jakub Karbownik and Artur Sobiech could have still changed the score but they failed to convert eh chances into a goal.
Lech’s next sparring game is scheduled for July 7th (5 pm) – that’s when the team from Pozań will face FC Midtjylland at home.
