A few moments later, Buric had to intervene once more in a one-on-one situation with Trossard. Lech responded with Vujadinovic’s attempt which, although on target, was blocked by Genk’s defensive line. The Belgians had another scoring chance shortly afterward when they were given a free kick but Pozuelo’s shot was slightly imprecise. Lech had a few more goal-scoring opportunities in the first half but their attempts were either off target or blocked by Genk’s defenders. Genk set the score to 2:0 shortly before halftime when Trossard converted a free kick into an impressive goal.
In the 50th minute, Lech managed to score themselves following a set piece. Vujadinovic’s header hit the post but Cywka recovered the ball and sent it flying into the back of the net from outside the box. Lech was determined to equalize but they lacked accuracy and most of their attempts weren’t on target.
In the 72nd minute, Jozwiak and De Marco built a great team offensive action but the midfielder’s finish was blocked by Genk’s defensive line. The Belgians responded with a dangerous shot from Zhegrovy that was successfully stopped by Buric.
