Lech Poznan won the home clash with Korona Kielce 2:1 (1:0). Christian Gytkjaer scored both goals for the hosts.
Djurdjevic’s players kicked off the game well and within the first 10 minutes, they had a couple of scoring chances. However, soon after, the match became more balanced and the fans were forced to wait some time before seeing another goal-scoring opportunity. Finally, when Lech took control of the ball, they scored the first goal. Tiba sent a precise cross into the box which was aimed at Amaral, but instead, Gytkjaer received the ball and placed it in the back of the net effortlessly.
Shortly afterward, Lech once more invaded Korona’s penalty area. Tiba, Amaral, and Kostevych built a great scoring opportunity but the latter waited too long before firing a shot and Korona’s defenders blocked his attempt in time. Then again, both teams struggled to take control of the ball and most of the play took place in the midfield. Shortly before halftime, Korona was given a free kick that Soriano finished off with a shot that hit the side net.
The second half was less exhilarating than the first 45 minutes. Amaral tried changing the score to two-nil but his attempt from outside the box was off target. Meanwhile, Goutas’s shot was blocked by Korona’s defensive line. For the next 15 minutes, the game focused around midfield.
20 minutes before the final whistle, Lech scored the second goal. This time Gytkjaer decided for an offensive run all by himself and finished off his individual counterattack with a precise shot from outside the box. Shortly afterward, Korona got their first goal-scoring opportunity in the second half and the managed to convert it into a goal thanks to Soriano. The conceded goal made Lech’s players visibly anxious and Korona started dominating the match, but they failed to equalize and it was Lech that won the Saturday league game.
