Lech lost the last league match preceding playoffs. The team from Poznan was beaten at home 0:2 by Jagiellonia Bialystok.
For the first 15 minutes, the two teams played cautiously and observed one another whilst trying to dominate the midfield. The hosts were the first ones to attack, however, Gytkjaer failed to intercept both crosses sent into Jagiellonia’s box. Shortly afterwards, Gumny and Klups built an impressive offensive run together, but Jozwiak’s finish was off target.
A couple of minutes later, Jagiellonia got a perfect goal-scoring opportunity. The team from Bialystok caused chaos in Lech’s box and came close to placing the ball in the net, however, the hosts got rid of the threat with a long clearance. The team from Poznan responded with Klups’ shot on target which was successfully saved by the keeper. A moment later, Jevtic attempted to surprise Kelemen, but his shot wasn’t accurate. Before the referee announced halftime, Jagiellonia was awarded a penalty kick as a result of a handball, which Imaz effortlessly converted into a lead goal.
Jagiellonia came back for the second half determined to score again and quickly won an opportunity to attack Lech’s goal, however, Romanchuk’s shot slammed off the wall. A moment later, the hosts created a chance to equalize – Vujadinovic who was positioned in Jagiellonia’s box received a precise cross which he converted into a header. Unluckily for Lech, Kelemen saved the shot impressively. Jozwiak’s shot that followed a couple of minutes later was also stopped by the keeper.
In the 61st minute, the guests got another goal. Imaz was once again the player to change the score, however, this time Jagiellonia built their scoring chance from a corner kick. Following the second goal, Jagiellonia moved into the defence and focused on stopping Lech’s offensive attempts. Jevtic had an opportunity to pull one goal back for his team, but his free kick shot was slightly off target. Similarly, Amaral’s attempt that followed was also imprecise. Hence, it was Jagiellonia that won all three points in the last league match preceding the playoffs.
