In the first sparing match of the pre-season, Lech Poznan beat Israeli Champions, Hapoel Beer Sheva. Robert Gumny, Lasse Nielsen and Mario Situm scored the goals for Lech.
Bjelica’s team kicked-off very well and early in the 4th minute they already took the lead. The hosts were given a free kick and Jevtic crossed the ball into the box where Gumny was already waiting. The young right-back beat the Israeli goalkeeper with a half volley. Lech’s rival struggled to create any scoring chances. One worth mentioning is the offensive action from the 19th minutes when Gadir received a cross from the left flank and converted it into a shot, but it was off target.
In the 28th minute Lech had an opportunity to score a second goal. Jevtic spotted Makuszewski who had a lot of free space, passed him the ball and the latter raced into the box. Nicki Bille was already waiting in the penalty area, but the pass from Makuszewski turned out to be too strong and the Dane failed to reach the ball. 2 minutes later Lech found a way to place the ball in the back of the net. The hosts were given a corner kick that Jevtic converted into a good, precise cross into the box. Nicki Bille extended the pass and Nielsen redirected it into the goal effortlessly.
Lech successfully stopped Hapoel from creating dangerous scoring chances. The Israeli team had problems passing Lech’s defensive line. Nonetheless, Putnocky occasionally had to leave the goal line to intercept Hapoel’s crosses. On the other end of the pitch, the hosts kept on looking for another goal. In the 37th minute Lech could have changed the scored, but Nicki Bille’s header flew slightly above the crossbar.
The second half looked very similar to the first 45 minutes of the match. Lech remained in possession of the ball for the majority of the time and that resulted in a number of scoring chances. In the 53rd minute Nicki Bille sent a pass to Jevtic who raced into the box and fired a shot, but since it was inaccurate, Israeli heaved a sigh of relief. 7 minutes later Majewski and Makuszewski played key roles in Lech’s offensive action. Situm, who was left unmarked in the box, was supposed to finish off the action, but Makuszewski’s pass was intercepted by one of the defenders at the last moment.
In the 60th minute Lech scored the third goal. Makuszewski spotted Gumny who was racing into the box and the youngster crossed the ball into the box straight to Situm who redirected it into the net with a precise shot near the post. Hapoel had a couple of scoring chances too. Elyaniv Barda hit the post after his teammates built an impressive offensive action. One of Hapoel’s players had a good opportunity to score when he was left with an empty goal to shoot on, but his attempt was off target.
In the last 20 minutes Bjelica decided to test a formation with a traditional striker. After Nicki Bille left the pitch, there was no classic no.9 on the pitch, therefore, all the offensive footballers left on the field moved in and out of the position. Among them there was Radut who had a great chance to score in the 78th minute. The Romanian player received a great cross from Makuszewski, but his attempt turned out to be slightly off target. The Israeli team had one more good chance to score a goal before the final whistle. Barda left Formella behind and tried surprising Buric with a strong shot, but the goalkeeper managed to redirect the ball above the crossbar, helping Lech to keep a clean sheet in the first sparing match of the pre-season.
