Lech Poznan finished the training camp in Turkey with a sparring match against Hajduk Split. The players from Poznan lost to their Croatian rival 0:1. On Saturday the first team will return to Poland.
The first 15 minutes of the Friday sparring match were dominated by Lech. Barkroth, Tralka, and Jozwiak all attempted to surprise Hajduk’s goalkeeper with accurate shots from outside the box. However, gradually as the time passed, the Croatian team took the control over the game. In the 28th minute, Ohandza’s attempt from an acute angle hit Lech’s post. Towards the end of the first half, Lech built two decent scoring chances. Whilst Jozwiak’s cross wasn’t intercepted by any of Lech’s players, Kostevych’s pass reached Gytkjaer, but the Dane failed to redirect the ball into the back of the net.
After halftime, Hajduk intensified their pressing which resulted in a number of opportunities to score and eventually in a goal. In the 58 minute, the Croatian team took the lead following a set piece. Nizic converted a pass from the corner of the pitch into a tap-in. In the 60th minute, Jevtic, Situm, and Majewski came on the pitch which resulted in more possession for Lech. 10 minutes later Gajos received a precise pass from Gumny, but his shot from within the box was blocked by one of the Croatian defenders.
A couple of moments later Majewski’s cross from the corner kick was intercepted by Tralka, but unfortunately for Lech, the midfielder’s header hit the crossbar. Majewski’s great pass from the 81st minute was converted into a shot by Khoblenko, but this time the goalkeeper intervened successfully. Both sides had a couple of good scoring chances in the last minutes of the match, but neither of them score, thus the match ended with Hajduk’s one-goal win.
