Surprisingly the guests were the ones who controlled the beginning of the match. Jez had a great opportunity in the very first minute but his shot was inaccurate. In the 9th minute Sadajew lit up Lechs offensive with a shot from a distance that was saved by the goalkeeper. 2 minutes later it was 1:0. Sadajew headed the ball towards Lovrencsics, the Hungarian player sent it into the penalty area and Hamalainen finished the cross with a precise header. In the 16th minute Kaminski could have made it 2:0, but one of Gorniks defenders stopped the ball at the goal line. Lech had several more opportunities in the first half, especially Darko Jevtic who could have added both a goal and an assist to his account, but the result did not change again in the first 45 minutes.

Coach Skorza decided for a substitution at halftime and sent Kownacki in for Sadajew who was at risk of getting a red card. Both sides created multiple chances. However, Lech had more of them, with Hamalainen, Pawlowski, Jevtic and Kaminski close to changing the result. In the 63rd minute it was 3:0. Jevtić converted a free kick into a precise center and Kedziora, who was waiting in the penalty area, placed the ball in the net with a header. The third goal seemed to have deprived the guests of hope for winning at least a point, but Lech kept on attacking. However, in 78th minute Gornik could have scored a goal Henriquez lost the ball in the penalty area, but Burics intervention successfully stopped Gergela.
