Lech Poznań - Górnik Łęczna 0:0

For the first time this spring round Lech Poznan losses league points. In the 26th match of the season, the team from Poznan drew with Gornik Leczna 0:0.

The team from Poznan started the game with high pressing. The hosts were aware of the stakes and knew that a win would let them become the leader in the league rank. However, it wasn’t Lech that dominated the first half, but Gornik. In the 4th minute, the guests were given a corner kick and Spiaczka converted the cross into a header that stopped on the crossbar.

9 minutes later Lech responded with a good offensive action of their own. Pawlowski sent a well-timed pass to Majewski, but the latter was successfully blocked by the keeper at the last moment. On the other end of the pitch Gornik was causing problems to Lech’s defensive line. In the 16th minute Dzalamidze was about to fire a dangerous shot at Lech’s goal, but luckily for the hosts, Bednarek stopped him in time. The young defender was kept busy by Gornik’s offensive players. Spiaczka himself had a couple of scoring chances and the defensive line struggled to control his offensive actions.

However, he wasn’t the only player from Leczna who forced Lech’s defenders to remain very cautious. In the 26th minute, Dzalamidze came close to scoring. The midfielder left Wilusz behind, dribbled around Tralka and fired a strong shot at the goal. Luckily for Lech, Putnocky stopped the ball and Gornik was awarded a corner kick. Before the referee announced halftime, Lech had an opportunity to score as well. This time Majewski back-heeled the ball to Pawlowski, but the latter tried to dribble instead of shooting and lost the ball.

After halftime, Lech attempted to take control over the game, but Gornik remained in possession of the ball for the majority of the time. However, that gave Lech opportunities to counterattack. In the 56th minute, Wilusz recovered the ball on Lech’s half of the pitch and sent the ball to Kownacki. The young forward dribbled past Pitry, but he waited too long before firing a shot and eventually he lost the ball. Meanwhile, Pawlowski’s attempt from a couple of minutes later was off target.

As the minutes passed, Lech started to dominate the match. Nevertheless, they struggled to create goal scoring chances. Whenever the players from Poznan found enough space, they fired shots from outside the box. The guests defended the goal relentlessly and Lech had problems to enter the rival’s penalty area. Radut came on the pitch in the second half and he was a couple of chances to score, but his attempts were either off target, or blocked. In the 73rd minute, Jevtic converted a free kick into a cross into the box where Bednarek was waiting, but his shot hit the crossbar only.

Lech was determined to find a way to place the ball into the net. Radut was very active and tried taking the responsibility for all the offensive actions, especially when Jevtic left the pitch. Kedziora also joined his team’s offensive actions and he kept on delivering good crosses to his teammates. However, Lech failed to place the ball in the net and after a series of five matches won, the team from Poznan had to share the points with their rival.
