Lech Poznań played its second friendly game of the winter preparatory grouping. The team from Poland faced FK Ufa and drew 0:0. Despite having control of the play and multiple goal scoring chances, Lech failed to score a goal.
The beginning of the match was a big problematic for Bjelica since Gutierrez was injured in the opening quarter and he had to be substituted by Tetteh. However, before the Ghanaian midfielder appeared on the pitch, a couple of minutes passed. Meanwhile, FK Ufa built a good goal scoring chance. Krotov raced down the right flank and sent a cross to Sly, who’s header missed the post only slightly. A moment later Lech attacked. Kostevych spotted Makuszewski who was entering the box, but the latter failed to control the ball and lost it.
After a balanced opening of the game, Lech took control of the match. The Polish team remained in possession of the ball for majority of the time and they built good offensive actions. In the 28th minute Makuszewski fired a shot from outside the box and it cause problems to the goalkeeper. Jevtić could have recovered the ball that was saved by the keeper, but he was blocked at the last moment. 10 minutes later the Russian team had a decent goal scoring opportunity. Krotov passed to Sly and the latter turned around and fired a strong shot. However, Burić intervened without a mistake.
After halftime both teams played more open football. The Russians were the first ones to attack. Zaseev’s shot was blocked by Bednarek at the last moment. A few minutes later Tetteh could have scored, but his shot from outside the box missed the post by centimeters. Sukhov also had a chance to shoot, but his attempt was easily saved by Burić.
Both sides seemed very close to scoring. Majewski’s pass would have put Robak one-on-one with the Russian keeper if it wasn’t for one of Ufa’s defenders who stopped the long ball. In the 67th minute Lech was awarded a set piece. Jevtić sent the ball to Makuszewski and the latter fired a shot at the goal that the goalkeeper saved, but not without problems.
Lech’s advantage was indisputable, but it did not alter the score. Paweł Tomczyk brought a bit of fresh energy to the team from Poznań, but the forward did not get a lot of chances to show his potential. The Russian defensive line was solid and effectively kept the Poles away from their goal. Therefore, Lech’s players often decided to shoot from outside the box. Makuszewski and Jevtić tried most often, but their shots did not fall into the back of the net and the match ended with a goalless draw.
