Lech Poznań - Arka Gdynia 0:2

The training match against Arka Gdynia was one of Lech’s last tests ahead of league season kick-off. Previously the team from Poznań faced Zagłębie Lubin (3:1), FC Midtjylland (3:2) and Lech Gdańsk (0:1). Meanwhile, Arka Gdynia only played one sparring game during their preseason – against Olimpia Elbląg (5:1).

For Jan Sýkora and Nika Kvekveskiri it was the first training game with summer – the first one finally reappeared on the pitch, having recovered from a minor injury, whereas Nika joined the rest of the squad in Opalenica later than his teammates, hence he hadn’t played in any sparring games until Friday.

It was a relatively balanced game with both teams creating goal-scoring opportunities, however, Arka Gdynia was more efficient. In the 12^th minute, Jakub Wilczyński set up Marcus da Silva with a perfect through ball and the latter effortlessly dribbled around Mickey van der Hart and placed the ball in the back of the net. 20 minutes into the second half, the team from the seaside got another goal – this time, Rafał Wolsztyński received a great pass from one of his teammates and he beat Miłosz Mleczko with a precise header. Lech was determined to turn the tables but Dani Ramirez and Joao Amaral’s attempts were either off target, or successfully stopped by Lechia’s keeper.

Lech’s last sparring game ahead of the start of the season is scheduled for July 16^th – that’s when the side from Poznań will face Miedź Legnica at Bułgarska street. This match will be closed to the public and media.
