Lech Poznań – Stal Mielec 1:2

Lech Poznań lost to Stal Mielec 1:2 in a home league game after conceding two goals in the added time.

The first half of the Saturday clash is to be forgotten as neither of the teams managed to deliver a satisfactory performance. Stal defended with all men whereas Lech had no idea how to break down their opponent’s defensive line and, as a result, rarely visited Stal’s penalty area.

After halftime, the match became more interesting, however, it wasn’t until the 80th minute that the fans witnessed the first goal. Tymoteusz Puchacz surprised Stal’s goalkeeper with a precise and strong shot from outside the box which helped his team take the lead.

The tables have turned and within a few minutes, Stal scored twice, in practically identical situations. Both goals were initiated by Petteri Forsell’s thrown-in which landed in the penalty area. In the case of the first goal, Vasyl Kravets unluckily redirected it into his own net, and a couple of minutes later, Jonathan de Amo set the final score to 2:0, making Stal’s bench go ecstatic.

As a result, Lech Poznań lost yet another match, this time against Stal who is fighting to avoid relegation. The team from Poznań still has two league matches to go before the 2020/21 campaign ends – an away game against Wisła Cracow on May 8th and a home clash with Górnik Zabrze on May 16th.
