Lech Poznań finally put an end to the series of matches without a win and defeated Śląsk Wrocław 1:0 in a home league clash.
Since the opening minutes, it was clear that Lech’s recent unsatisfactory performances got them even more determined and focused. The hosts dominated the match and stayed in possession for longer than in the previous games. However, in the first half, the team from Poznań struggled to convert their dominance into goal-scoring opportunities whilst Tymoteusz Puchacz’s and Jesper Kalrstrom’s shot from outside the box were off target. The debutant Aron Johannsson had the best chance to change the score in the first half following a great cross from Alan Czerwiński, but his shot flew high above the crossbar.
The American striker didn’t give up after his first, unsuccessful attempt and in the 57th he converted one of the opportunities into a goal. Jan Sykora sent a high cross into the penalty area and Johannsson redirected the ball into the net with an impressive header, therefore scoring his first goal for Lech in his first official match. The forward had a couple more chances to change the score but his next attempts weren’t as precise. Since neither Lech nor Śląsk found a way to place the ball in the net again, the hosts deservedly collected all three points.
