It was an unfortunate ending to Lech’s participation in Europa League group phase. The team from Poznań was beaten at home by Glasgow Rangers 0:2.
Lech already knew prior to the last match of the group phase that they had no chance of qualifying to the next stage of Europa League. However, the team from Poznań wanted to say goodbye to the prestigious tournament in style. The opening minutes of the Thursday game gave hope to Lech’s fans – their players managed to create a couple of good goal-scoring chances but neither Pedro Tiba nor Lubomir Satka surprised the Glasgow’s keeper with their attempts.
The wasted chances took revenge on Lech and in the 31st minute, their Scottish opponent took the lead. Jakub Kamiński made a mistake that enabled Rangers to surprise Lech with a quick offensive attempt and Cedric Itten converted the opportunity into a goal with a strong shot into the bottom corner.
The team from Glasgow completely dominated the second half and set the final score to 2:0 with a header from Connor Goldson that first hit the crossbar before being tapped into the net
