Lech Poznań settled accounts in the second league clash with Miedź Legnica. John van den Brom triumphed 1:0 in Sunday’s match at Bułgarska Street and Mikael Ishak scored the winner.
On Wednesday evening, Lech drew against Miedź in the postponed match of the 2nd round of PKO BP Ekstraklasa. On Sunday afternoon, the teams faced each other once again but this time at Bułgarska Street. The opening minutes of the first half looked similar to the previous game – Lech put pressure on the offence whereas Miedź focused on the defence and occasional counterattacks.
The team from Poznań quickly managed to break down Miedź’s defence line – Filip Dagerstal set up Mikael Ishak with a good pass following a set piece and Lech’s captain tapped the ball into the net. It wasn’t the hosts’ only goal-scoring opportunity of the first half, but it wasn’t until the second half that Lech started causing real problems for Miedź’s defenders. John van den Brom’s squad hit the woodwork four times, but the fans gathered at Bułgarska Street saw no more goals. Hence, although Lech finally won three league points, there is still room for improvement, especially in terms of efficiency in the offence.
Lech’s next league game is scheduled for Saturday, 5:30 pm – that’s when they will face Wisła Płock in an away game.
