In the 18th league match of the season, Lech Poznań beat ŁKS 2:0 in a home clash. Joao Amaral and Kamil Jóźwiak scored the goals for the hosts. It’s Lech’s third league win in a row.
The hosts dominated from the very start of the match and they started creating scoring chances early on. A few minutes into the game, Muhar recovered the ball and found enough space to fire a dangerous shot at the goal, however, his attempt was successfully blocked by one of the defenders and Amaral’s follow-up shot was saved by the goalkeeper. The duet Tiba and Amaral played a key role in Lech’s offensive line. They built numerous goal-scoring opportunities, but their attempts were usually off-target. On the other end of the pitch, ŁKS tried surprising van der Hart with a couple of shots from outside the box but without success.
In the 26th minute, Lech came very close to scoring thanks to Jevtic and his impressive shot, however, Malarz’s intervention was equally outstanding and he saved his team from conceding a goal. Shortly afterward, Tiba got a great scoring chance but this time it was one of the defenders who blocked the attempt. Lech didn’t stop which meant even more hard work for LKS’s defensive line. Gytkjaer’s header was easily stopped by the keeper, whereas Kostevych’s shot – which was supposed to be a pass – was only slightly off target.
Lech remained in possession of the ball for the majority of the second half too, but seemed to struggle with creating as many goal-scoring chances. Finally, in the 59th minute, Amaral’s individual run and beautiful dribbling skills resulted in a goal for the team from Poznan. LKS didn’t lose hope and started attacking at a higher intensity but without success. In the second half, Kamil Jozwiak appeared on the pitch for the first time since his injury and made a difference in the team’s offensive line. His flat shot from the 68th minute was stopped by Malarz, and so was Jevtic’s follow-up attempt. Shortly before the final whistle, the team from Poznan placed the ball in the net for the second time that afternoon. Kaminski’s pass parallel to the goal set up Jozwiak with a perfect scoring chance and the homegrown youngster didn’t waste it. Lech managed to keep a clean sheet and it was their third league win in a row.
